New Steampunk Faucet Collection Celebrates the Industrial Age

California Faucets Steampunk Bay Single Hole Wheel Handle Satin Nickel

California Faucets’ new Steampunk Bay faucet collection draws inspiration from retro-futuristic steam gauges and gears of the industrial-style steampunk genre.

The company says the new collection references author Jules Verne, who created avant-garde sci-fi stories that bred a new genre of fiction. Steampunk Bay tells an inventive new story in the bath, the Huntington Beach, Calif.-based company says.

“Steampunk Bay is like a vintage industrial faucet that microdosed on psychedelics,” says Noah Taft, the company’s senior vice president of marketing and sales. “With its wheel assist handles and industrial-age precision markings, Jules Verne would want it in his own bath if he were alive."

Inspired by the science fiction steam-powered, gear-driven time machines and spring-mechanized robots that define the steampunk genre, Steampunk Bay is devoid of immersive digital technology. Products feature utilitarian shapes and slightly distressed finishes “that capture the zeitgeist of today’s industrial design ethos, while an array of customization options allow designers and homeowners alike to create a personalized expression of industrial style in the bath,” California Faucets says.

Steampunk Bay products are made of solid brass and are available in a variety of options, including single hole, widespread, wall- or deck-mounted, and curved high arc spout or slightly square low-spout designs. Handle options include a Wheel Handle design reminiscent of antique gears, a trapezoidal Lever Handle, and triangular Blade Handle.

“To accentuate the industrial look throughout the bath, the series includes Roman tub sets, bidet sets, towel bars in three sizes (9 inches, 18 inches, and 24 inches), robe hooks, and toilet paper holder,” the company says. “Plus, the series’ shower trim is based on an actual 1920s-era steam valve gauge with steel dial and vintage markings and typeface.”

Available in more than 30 finishes (including 15 PVD options), the products range in price from $849 for the single-hole low-spout lavatory faucet (with blade handle in polished chrome) to $2,072 (for the widespread high-spout design with wheel handles in premium finishes such as Lifetime Satin Gold).
