Plumen Expands Modular 3D-Printed Shades

Pluman Kayan 3D-printed lights

The company that claims to produce the world’s first designer low-energy light bulb has released a full line of 3D-printed shades that works perfectly with its lamps.

Plumen collaborated with Italian 3D printing design brand Formaliz3d to produce the Kayan series of boldly colored shades.

The company launched a single monochrome Kayan shade last year, but now it has added five new colors—blue, grey, red, white, and yellow. Because of its modularity, the collection offers more than 100 possible combinations to choose from.

“Customers can mix and match two shade options, three bulb designs with six different shade and cable colors,” the company says.

Options include dual-tone shades and cable pairings to a checked effect. The shade also can be hung in regimented series or organic clusters to bring life and playfulness to any space, the company adds.
