Almost 20 years after introducing its +Segmento kitchen cabinet concept, Poggenpohl has reinterpreted the line to target young buyers who want even more modern design.

Launched in 2000, +Segmento featured a simple design idea that included thin worktops, handle-less surfaces, and customizable back wall. At the time, the company called the line “a timeless composition of style and stillness.”

But now Poggenpohl has made another bold leap for the line with +Segmento Y. “With +Segmento Y, Poggenpohl is creating a stunning reinterpretation of a current collection,” the company says in a release. “The kitchens are matte instead of glossy, with new nanotech surface technology to prevent fingerprints.”

A fresh reinterpretation of the classic collection, +Segmento Y comes only in black, white, or gray. The company says the matte finishes will give the entire ensemble contemporary modernism that will appeal to young consumers and the nanotech surface will make maintenance a breeze.

“+Segmento Y delivers an uncluttered first impression, leaving room to personalize with objects and artwork, while providing expansive storage solutions to hide appliances and kitchen gear,” the company says. “This clean, undisturbed minimalism is made possible by +Segmento’s unique channel system which creates the illusion that the 14mm counter panel floats effortlessly while offering a fingerhold to open handless cabinetry below.”

Poggenpohl says +Segmento Y blends into any environment without dominating it and would fit a small condo in the city or a spacious kitchen in a country home.
