Velux Introduces Line of Venting Modular Residential Skylights

Velux America has created a new Venting Modular Skylight (VMS) line that is designed to open up large spaces while creating a light-filled and spacious environment.

Velux America has created a new Venting Modular Skylight (VMS) line that is designed to open up large spaces while creating a light-filled and spacious environment.

Developed in collaboration with architects Foster + Partners in London, the skylights feature a minimalist design with slim profiles.  Each skylight module integrates electronics and motors that are concealed, creating a simple and refined look, and each is constructed from a composite material for strength and energy efficiency.

“This is a relatively new product for Velux in the United States,” says Ross Vandermark, national product manager for Velux America. “But a number of residential installations have been completed with very satisfactory results and good feedback from homeowners and installers.”

The VMS is primarily a commercial line, but one of the models available, the single-slope 5º Longlight, is ideal for residential use, Vandermark says. “This unit is suitable for roof pitches between 0º and 10º,” he explains. “Other Longlight systems are available for roof pitches between 10º to 25º.”

Made in Greenwood, SC., the skylights offer fully integrated ventilation and sun screening, and fixed and ventilating units can be added.
