A Wood Floor Inspired by the Art Nouveau Work of Antoni Gaudi

Spanish manufacturer STP Wood Flooring has developed a new parquet line of asymmetrical wood flooring that was inspired by the artist Antoni Gaudi.

Gaudi was known for incorporating ceramic fragments and irregular off cuts into his Art Nouveau pieces, so the company translated the mosaic style into a wooden floor called Trencadís.

“Each 1160x580mm piece is composed of five sections of wood placed in an asymmetrical fashion,” the company says. “The grain is placed in different directions on one panel, which gives it a unique and artful look.”

The engineered wood line also incorporates LOCKSTP technology, a glueless system for installing the products. It is offered in various species and colors, including classic (varnished with oil effect), gloss, brushed, and micro-beveled on four sides. Boards are varnished on both sides.
