9 New Faucet Designs That Caught Our Attention This Spring

 1 Duravit D1

1. Duravit's D1 is a cutting-edge electronic with a flat, circular operating button with an integrated LED color ring. Unfortunately, it's not yet available in the U.S. market.‎

Whether in the kitchen or the bath, the faucet is the finishing piece of functional jewelry. These nine new introductions caught our attention.

One of the most prevalent design trends in the facuet category (as well a other parts of the home) is personalization, the ability for designers and homeowners to choose different handle options, finishes, and even materials to create a one-of-kind installation.

At the 2018 International Builders’ Show, Kohler introduced a new bath facuet concept called Components. “Putting the freedom of choice into the hands of consumers and specifiers, the new Components line of interchangeable faucet elements offers a wide range of modern, minimalist options for composing a finished product,” the company says

To create a personalized faucet configuration tailor-made for any environment, consumers and specifiers can choose a spout from Row (a modern design with crisp angles), Ribbon (which has the appearance of thin ribbons), and Tube (a cylindrical style familiar to many); then they can choose their handle (a single-control Rocker handle, an Oyl handle, a modern Industrial handle, and lever handle); and choose their finish (Polished Chrome and Matte Black at launch; Titanium and Brushed Nickel later in 2018).

Kohler added new faucet designs and accessories to the Components collection in Jaurary at the IBS 2019. “The extension includes new single-handle faucet options including Pin Handle and Tall Pin Handle designs that offer an integrated handle and spout combination that is perfect for applications focused on clean, minimalistic design,” the company says.

Hangrohe also offers a customization program in its luxury Axor Collection. Collaborating with creative studio Phoenix Design, Hansgrohe recently launched Axor MyEdition, pairing sleek, low-profile faucet bodies with seven cover plates including chrome, 13 PVD finishes, leather, wood, two types of marble, and a mirrored or black glass.

“Making a personal statement through customized interiors is the essence of luxury,” says Andreas Diefenbach of Phoenix Design. “With the AXOR MyEdition collection, we have set the stage for personal creativity—colors, materials and patterns establish the point of departure for a unique and personalized faucet.”

Other faucet brands are following the same concept—though not in the same style and fashion. Manufacturers include Fantini, Watermark Designs, California Faucets, Crosswater London, Franz Viegener, Graff, Moen, and many others.

We found nine products that caught our eye so far in 2019. Perhaps one might fit your next project.
