Camo Brand Debuts Decking Starter Clips for Hidden-Fastener Look

National Nail CAMO Decking Starter Clip

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based National Nail has added a new deck fastening system that makes it unnecessary to face-nail the first and last board of any grooved deck project.

Part of the manufacturer’s Camo EdgeClip and EdgeXClip deck fastening products, Starter Clips allow contractors to “create a truly fastener-free deck surface that installs in half the time of other clip systems,” the company says. Contractors can experience five times faster installation when they also add the brand’s Camo Drive collated stand-up deck fastening tool, it adds.

"Our customers love the elegant looks, and fastener-free deck surfaces Camo products help them achieve," said Greg Palmer, Director of Marketing, National Nail. "Now, Camo EdgeClips and EdgeXClips have a compatible solution for the perimeter—the first and last boards—with our new Starter Clips.”

Each package of Starter Clips covers 30 linear feet and contains 25 clips and 25 screws. Made from stainless steel for corrosion resistance, Starter Clips are easy to install by lining up the clip with the back edge of the joist and center of the cross-joist. After fastening the Starter Clips at each cross-joist, installers then tilt the grooved deck board and insert it into the clip. The deck board is now ready for Camo’s EdgeClips for 90-degree patterns or EdgeXClips for angled patterns.

“CAMO’s EdgeClip and EdgeXClip are the ideal solutions for achieving a fastener-free deck surface, while meeting deadlines with less labor,” National Nail says. “Combining Camo Starter Clips with EdgeClip and EdgeXClip expedite deck installations thanks to one-pass fastening, automatic spacing and the capability to adjust to any deck board for easy alignment. And, the deck will have a completely fastener-free surface for beautiful results.”
