A New Cutting-Edge Modern Sliding-Door Hardware System

Krownlab has introduced a hubless sliding-door hardware system that can be installed in three different ways.

Portland, Ore.-based architectural hardware manufacturer Krownlab has introduced a hubless sliding-door hardware system that can be installed in three different ways.

Designed for custom residential and commercial interiors, the Baldur collection can be attached to door panels via top mount, face mount, and glass mount.

“I created Baldur as a high-end, interior iteration of the classic sliding barn door,” says Krownlab founder and CEO Stefan Andrén. “But it’s far more than that. The design possibilities are limitless.”

The hardware line features a unique hubless design that uses custom unsealed bearings. The bearings are 4 inches in diameter and are clamped at only one point, which provides Baldur’s movement and distinguishes it from all other door systems on the market.

Krownlab can be adjusted on site, and it allows contractors the flexibility to work with panels of nearly any size, material, and weight up to 400 pounds. “Baldur’s wide steel-on-steel contact surface between its bearing and track ensures even the heaviest doors glide smoothly,” the company says.

Fabricated from 300- and 400-series stainless steel, the line comes in three finishes—brushed, black, and polished—and it will not patina or develop rust, even in damp or humid environments.
