German bath products manufacturer Duravit and noted firm Sieger Design have released a new collection of Viu ceramics and XViu furniture marked by a metallic profile in matte black or champagne.
“With the Viu ceramics range, the XViu furniture range, and the matching bathtubs, Duravit and Sieger Design present a complete bathroom range that exudes forward-looking design,” Duravit says. “The post-industrial elegance of the pieces emerges from the interaction of soft, organic forms with a precise geometry and details finished to a previously unattained level of perfection.”
The new range covers the entire bathroom: the washing, bathing, and toilet area. Recurrent design elements and special details are defining characteristics of the collections.
The XViu freestanding tub features high-gloss acrylic with Champagne Matt or Matt Black V-shaped metal legs.
A highlight of the collection is a washing area variant based on Duravit’s c-bonded technology. The exterior is a strict rectangle, while the interior features gentle organic curves with a spacious inner basin and generous shelf.
“The edge running along the tap platform continues as a subtle outer line,” the compamy says, while the subtle detail of the horizontal overflow within the basin underlines the horizontal alignment of the external shape. Each vanity features ceramic on the inside that the company says is reminiscent of the softness of water.
Additional details include the white ceramic cover of the push-open valve that is flush with the inner basin when in the open position; metal console legs with a V-shape profile in Champagne Matt or avant-garde Black Matt; and a glass shelf that’s available in four colors.
The Viu wall-mounted toilet is ideal for small spaces. It has metal push buttons on the side for easy removal of the seat and accepts the brand's SensoWash Slim seat.
The collection also includes washbasins that are fully glazed from beneath. Available in five sizes, the units feature a shape that follows the design of the c-bonded washbasin.
“The alternative variants for the washing area—with furniture washbasin, built-in washbasin, or above-counter washbasin and matching vanity unit with pull-out compartment or two drawers—feature striking V-shaped lateral aluminum profiles, which are also available in Champagne Matt and Black Matt,” the company says. “This lends the XViu furniture range its striking contour."
Doors are available in semi-transparent smoked glass that can be supplied for tall and semi-tall cabinets. Each uses smooth hinge straps for opening and closing the doors.
The wall-hung bath vaity features the brand's c-bonded technology that creates a seamless connection between ceramic basin and the metal frame. It has a handle-free drawer but offers push-to-open technology.
Another element in the XViu series collection is a freestanding bathtub. Featuring a metal frame with the familiar V-shaped profile of the line, the tub has a high-gloss white acrylic body and comes in two sizes—160 by 80 centimeters and 180 by 80 centimeters.
The toilet in the collection features metal push buttons on the sides that allow the removal of the seat cover, making cleaning easier. Duravit says that the “technically demanding realization of the open flushing rim thanks to improved Rimless technology ensures outstanding flushing performance.” It can be paired with a SensoWash Slim washlet toilet seat or a Duravit A2 electronic actuator plate and matching wall-mounted element.
Accessories in the line include mirrors and the mirror cabinets with fully mirrored sides, some fitted with a sensor switch that offers dimmig and lighting control. “The variant with icon control on the mirror surface, a first for mirror cabinets, also features the ambient light mode and colored light switching function: at a luminosity of more than 300 lux, the light color can be continuously adjusted from 2,700 (warm light) to 6,500 kelvin (cold light),” the company says. “Heating is available for all mirrors, and a standard feature for icon variants.”
The XViu mirror offers icon-driven control on the front and offers, ambient lighting, defogger, and different color temperatures.
