Toilet repair brand Fluidmaster has developed a next-generation electronic bidet that the company says provides a more hygienic, clean, and refreshing bathroom solution.

The all-new Soft Spa 9500 Bidet, the company says, leverages Fluidmaster's 64-year history of innovation. Complete with water temperature and pressure controls, adjustable dryer speeds, an ergonomic, temperature-controlled comfort seat and more, the electronic bidet features a sleek design that won't shift under users.

"Adding electronic bidets to the toilet has been a growing trend in the U.S. market over the last few years as more people have transformed their bathrooms into a personal spa oasis," says Corinne AndersonSchoepe, director of global brand for Fluidmaster. "COVID-19 and the recent toilet paper shortages fast-tracked our development of the Soft Spa 9500 as we responded to the widespread adoption of elevated personal hygiene standards. We've leveraged our trusted leadership in the toilet repair industry to offer a premium, more hygienic solution that we believe is going to be a welcomed upgrade in the bathroom."

The brand says the Soft Spa 9500 serves as a healthier, more hygienic way of cleaning up in the bathroom. Front and rear cleaning cycles help remove more bacteria and prevent the spread of germs when compared to wiping with toilet paper. The result is a fresh, "just stepped out of the shower" clean feeling made possible by a premium, fully customizable experience, the company says.

Other features of the Soft Spa 9500 include:

  • Automatic front and rear cleaning cycles with oscillation, water temperature, and pressure controls
  • Adjustable dryer speeds with temperature control
  • Sleek design with an ergonomic comfort bidet seat that won't shift under your bum
  • Adjustable temperature control seat
  • Electronic control via push button at bidet base or wireless remote
  • Deodorizer and push-button quick release for easy cleaning
  • Night light and soft-close bidet seat lid for round-the-clock use

Fluidmaster’s Soft Spa 9500 comes at a time when manufacturers are growing ever more bullish on bidet toilets or after-market bidet seats. “Bathrooms and toilets around the world commonly feature a bidet or some type of water cleansing device like a spray hose like toilets in the Middle East commonly feature,” writes San Francisco-based Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. “Yet bidets are curiously absent in the United States. With daily showers, daily hair washing, ubiquitous antibacterial soap, all sorts of hand sanitizers, and a dizzying array of toiletry products, Americans are known for being hygiene obsessed. Why have bidets not caught on in the United States when they are a common feature for toilets around the world?”

The lack of usage in the U.S. market could be changing, and part of the reason is the advent of the smart toilet. On the market for about 10 years, smart toilets have become popular with homeowners and kitchen and bath designers. According to HOUZZ’s recent Bathroom Trends Study, homeowners are increasingly interested in smart toilets for their master bathroom renovations. Thirty-four percent of toilets installed in a renovation are high-tech, up 6% from 2019, according to the Houzz survey. Bidets are usually a feature of these units. For those buyers who can’t afford a smart toilet, a bidet seat is the net best thing.

The Soft Spa 9500 Bidet is offered at $400 MSRP and is available now through Fluidmaster.com.
