Leviton Introduces Pop-Up Floor Boxes to Conceal Wiring Devices

Leviton Pop-Up Floor Boxes Open Position

Lighting controls and wiring devices manufacturer Leviton has unveiled a new line of Pop-Up Floor Boxes designed to conceal electrical wiring devices in different flooring materials.

The manufacturer says the boxes provide convenience and easy access to power in rooms where traditional in-wall receptacles cannot be used.

“Leviton Pop-Up Floor Boxes provide convenient, easy access to power in homes and in multifamily units where traditional in-wall receptacles cannot be used, such as rooms with floor to ceiling windows, great rooms and other architectural enhancements,” says Melissa Cinelli, product manager, Leviton Residential. “With the simple press of a button, receptacles or data ports become immediately available for use.”

The boxes feature a low profile, which allows them to recess neatly into the floor with minimal exposure above the finished floor. Inside, the box receptacles include Leviton devices pre-wired to a terminal block for easy installation and wiring access. Each floor box features an innovative side latch open/close mechanism to eliminate common issues associated with traditional center latches, such as interference with opening and scratching of the wiring device face.

Box models can include USB Dual Type A Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle; SmartlockPro Self-Test Tamper-Resistant GFCI Receptacle; Decora Tamper-Resistant Receptacle; and 3-Port QuickPort Insert for voice, data, audio and video applications.

Leviton says the boxes are IP 44 rated for protection from ingress of water spray from any direction when closed. They also meet or exceed UL 514A requirements, including the scrub water and concrete tightness tests, and receptacles comply with the latest National Electric Code requirements for tamper-resistant receptacles.

The boxes are available in brushed nickel, black, brass, and bronze finishes.
