LG Tops J.D. Power’s Appliance Satisfaction Surveys in 7 Categories

J.D. Power Winners Circle

LG was once again at the top of J.D. Power’s annual 2017 Kitchen Appliance Satisfaction Study and 2017 Laundry Appliance Satisfaction Study, topping seven categories across kitchen and laundry segments.

Bosch also performed well, topping three categories.

“Major appliance companies continue to be at the forefront of the industry with innovative products, features, and styles,” says Greg Truex, senior director of the at-home practice at J.D. Power. “LG has clearly delivered on all these measures this year, delighting their customers.”

The Kitchen Appliance Satisfaction Study and the Laundry Appliance Satisfaction Study, now in their 12th and 13th years respectively, measure customer satisfaction in 11 appliance segments across six factors: performance and reliability, ease of use, features, styling and appearance, price, and warranty. Satisfaction is measured on a 1,000-point scale.

Key Findings

LG: Seven Awards

LG ranked highest in all three laundry segments—front-load washer (861 on a 1,000-point scale), top-load washer (845) and clothes dryer (868). They also topped the dishwasher segment (850), freestanding range segment (864), French door refrigerator segment (850) and top-mount freezer refrigerator segment (809).

LG performs particularly well in performance and reliability, ease of use, features, and styling and appearance across all seven segments.

Bosch: Three Awards

Bosch ranked highest in two cooking appliances—cooktops (838) and wall ovens (840)—and shares the top rank in over-the-range microwaves (833) with KitchenAid.

Bosch performs particularly well in the features, warranty and price factors for all three appliances.

Samsung also did well, though it lost some of the leads it took last year. It topped the side-by-side refrigerator category at 848, and ranked second behind LG in French door refrigerators, top-load washers, front-load washers, and clothes dryers.

Other manufacturers that performed well in the survey were Maytag, KitchenAid, Kenmore, and GE Appliances. See the full survey here.
