Barricade Wrap Plus Drainage also protects against UV rays and is resistant to pressure washing, job site chemicals, and sugars from tree sap and wood sidings.

Non-directional gap design allows builders to install house wrap in any direction

Barricade Building Products has released a house wrap featuring a non-directional gap design that can be installed in any direction.

“As an air and water-resistive barrier, drainable house wrap allows moisture and bulk water to drain from behind cladding,” the company says. “The unique patent-pending design of Barricade Wrap Plus Drainage features a non-directional gap design that can be installed in any direction, reducing scrap on gable ends without affecting drain-ability.”

Besides safeguarding a home from water damage, the Barricade Wrap Plus Drainage also protects against UV rays and is resistant to pressure washing, job site chemicals, and sugars from tree sap and wood sidings, the company says.

If water gets trapped in the wall interior, it can lead to internal rotting and structural inconsistencies. The company says the breathable wrap helps protect a building’s integrity by allowing moisture vapor to pass through due to its micro-porous membrane. The wrap also stands up against potential water damage from more intense weather conditions, such as rain storms.

“A number of states in the US are going beyond the International Residential Code regulations to mandate barriers for improved drainage,” Mike Fields, vice president of sales for Barricade Building Products, says. “Our durable and high-performance Barricade drainable wrap is a translucent, easy-to-install house wrap, whether you’re building on-site or manufacturing wall panels in a plant.”

The air- and water-barrier is designed for use with stucco, stone veneer, and exterior insulation and finish systems. In addition, felt paper or paper-backed wire can be installed over the house wrap to enhance the drainage property of stucco systems. Made from non-perforated, non-woven polyolefin, the wrap promotes easy installation, as its translucency allows builders to see the housing frame underneath.

According to the Standard Test Method for Determining the Drainage Efficiency of Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems, the wrap scores a 90 percent drainage efficiency rating and scores a 18 US Perms rating. Available in five sizes ranging from 60 to 120 inches wide and 100 to 200 feet long, the wrap is available now with a 10-year warranty.

In addition to the new product, the company is also offering custom digital logo printing for Barricade Wrap Plus Drainage and other products. “Digital printing can help builders achieve environmental sustainability objectives, given its positive impact on the supply chain, with no need for printing plates and less ink and water waste generated compared to traditional flexographic printing,” the company says. “In addition, lower minimum order quantities have a direct impact on warehousing and obsolescence.”

Single-family and multifamily builders can get their logo, website address, phone number, or other messages to increase brand awareness for their companies. The information is printed directly on the wrap, and the company says builders can choose from high-resolution colors and gradients for no extra cost.
