Overhead Door‎ Introduces First-Ever Residential Exterior Security Shutter

Garage door manufacturer Overhead Door Brand says it has launched the industry’s first residential exterior security shutter opener with a weather resistant enclosure.

The Model 653RX Allura Security Shutter system is designed for the application of securing exterior access to residential properties. Overhead says the system is designed to provide an aesthetically pleasing, compact design that can be custom-ordered in a variety of colors to boost any home’s curb appeal while preventing unwanted access to residential streets and driveways.

Engineered to be compliant with Underwriters Laboratory requirements, Model 653RX Allura Security Shutter is designed with an exterior mounted tube frame structure and is equipped with safe direct drive operation. Monitored photo eyes are available in a fully perforated or fenestrated pattern, allowing for 22% and 24% open area visibility respectively. The sloped hood design of shutter provides a weather resistant enclosure and promotes moisture runoff. For additional security, cylinder locking options are available. The system comes with a residential exterior security shutter opener and is engineered to offer smooth and quiet operation.

The product features an extruded aluminum curtain, guides and bottom bar that allow an attractive finished look when the shutter is closed. For enhanced customization, the security shutter is available in four standard PowderGuard powder coat finishes—silver, bronze, white or almond. In addition, another approximately 200 other powder coat color options are available or architects and specifiers may choose color-matched hues. The company says PowderGuard powder coat finishes provide reliable, lasting durability and a more consistent color finish than anodized aluminum.

The shutter comes with a two-year limited warranty on parts, components and finish. The opener’s motor or gearbox comes with a limited lifetime warranty, while its core unit parts include a two-year limited warranty and its accessories and other parts and components come with a one-year limited warranty.
