The nonprofit Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) will discuss the importance of its Energy Planning Analysis Tool during an upcoming webinar

The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) is hosting “Carbon Intensity,” a new webinar, as part of its Propane Presents Technology Series beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, May 26, 2022. The upcoming webinar focuses on the Energy Planning Analysis Tool (EPAT), an online resource that calculates the cost and emissions savings benefits of a propane-powered home.

Bryan Cordill, director of residential and commercial business development at PERC will be joined by Erin Bonetti, principal engineer at Gas Technology Institute (GTI) and Chris Proulx, outside sales support at Proulx Oil and Propane. Together, they will discuss how builders and marketers can take advantage of the EPAT and share the facts and benefits about emissions reductions with their customers.

The tool calculates and compares annual energy cost, source energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as criteria pollutant emissions, associated with site energy consumption by purchased energy form for alternative technologies providing the same energy services. Electric, natural gas, and propane applications are defined by user-selectable and default inputs for comparisons. EPAT shows the potential energy, environmental, and cost benefits of replacing or buying more energy efficient equipment, comparing electric, natural gas, and propane alternatives, based on an annual snapshot or over a life cycle of up to 30 years.

“EPAT is an important resource for the industry as we navigate greenhouse gas emission policies and demands from customers,” said Cordill. “Homeowners are doing their own research to compare electric and gas systems to lower their carbon footprint. This is the latest weapon for builders and marketers alike to demonstrate the cost and emissions savings benefits of a propane-powered home.”

PERC’s “Propane Presents Technology Series” focuses on new and emerging propane technologies, tools, education, and best practices to approach the ideal customer. Hosted and facilitated by PERC, in partnership with various OEMs, the series aims to showcase various propane products across multiple markets, answer questions directly from the industry and end-users, and provide relevant resources and training information.
