Samsung Electronics America says its new Chef Collection of built-in appliances addresses the demand for smart products and personalization that is trending in the kitchen market.
“The kitchen is the room we connect and spend time with family and friends,” says John Herrington, Samsung senior vice president and general manager of home appliances. “It’s where we relax, celebrate, nourish, and create. With its beautiful design and surprising technology, Chef Collection enables and inspires these important moments in our lives.”
The line of kitchen appliances comprises sleek mounted wall ovens, ranges, cooktops, hoods, refrigerators, and dishwashers. Cooktops feature beveled edges and glowing blue knobs, while the appliances are available in stainless steel or matte black stainless steel. The dishwasher and refrigerator can also be paired with a number of panel designs.
According to Houzz, first-time homeowners are spending an average of $33,800 on renovations, more than ever before. Twenty-eight percent of homeowners consider the addition of smart technology very important to renovations. Design features are also increasingly important: 51 percent of kitchen renovators on Houzz say they aim to seamlessly connect their kitchens to adjoining rooms. The Chef Collection was created to directly address these trends, Samsung says.
All appliances in the collection are Wi-Fi or Bluetooth enabled. A Bluetooth-enabled hood automatically turns on whenever the Chef Collection pro ranges or cooktops are activated.
The 4-Door Flex Built-in Refrigerator features View Inside cameras that allow users to see the contents through a smartphone app. The unit also includes Flex Zone, a compartment that has four temperature settings and can convert between a fridge and freezer based on a user's needs.
The Flex Duo Oven has a smart divider that turns the compartment into two separate convection ovens that cook at different temperatures simultaneously.
Another of Samsung’s goals was to streamline the built-in installation process with features such as less cumbersome packaging, pre-drilled holes, and easy leveling. Installers can also run remote, Wi-Fi-enabled diagnostic checks to ensure the appliance is functioning, reducing the need for repair visits.
