Worx Introduces Drill With Advanced Intelligence

An Ai Drill from Worx

Power tool manufacturer Worx has launched the Ai Drill, an "intelligent" drill/driver designed to imitate human behavior and be intuitive in ways that make it is easier to use and preserve surface materials.

Rather than manual clutch settings, the Ai Drill uses internal electronics to deliver the appropriate drill and drive output for each material. It features several unique technologies, each activated by touch pads on the top of the tool:
• BitLock: When a bit is loaded into the chuck, motorized jaws tighten and self-center the bit; they reverse to release the bit, as well. According to the company, BitLock provides for 30 percent more torque than hand-tightening.

• SafeDrive: The tool automatically determines the required torque for each application, then backs off once the screw is flush, preventing surface damage.

• PulseAssist: By delivering just the right amount of bit rotation, users can drive the screw flush to the surface without overtightening or stripping the screw head; in reverse, it allows for backing out screws without damaging the head.

The Ai Drill uses a 20-volt lithium-ion battery and weighs 3.1 pounds. It includes an onboard LED light and delivers 0 to 800 no-load RPM and up to 180 inch-pounds of torque. For more information, visit www.worx.com
