York Introduces New Energy-Saving Heat Pump

Johnson Controls’ York brand of heating and cooling systems has released the new energy-efficient Affinity Series YZT two-stage heat pump with smart home connectivity.

The new unit features 19 SEER and 10.0 HSPF efficiency, is Energy Star-rated, and can save homeowners up to 47 percent on energy use, the company says. It is controllable via the company’s Affinity Hx3 touch-screen smart thermostat, which is compatible with Amazon Alexa and the Hx smartphone app.

The heat pump also features a two-stage compressor for quiet and efficient operation, and the company’s QuietDrive includes a sound-reducing swept-wing fan blade and sound containment cloak. A ClimaTrak feature can adjust for specific environments and allows for additional accessories, including system-matched humidifiers, germ-killing UVC lights, and MERV 16-rated filtration.

“With the addition of the YZT heat pump, we offer a truly comprehensive package of energy-efficient solutions to help contractors meet the needs of homeowners at any budget,” says Liz Haggerty, vice president and general manager of Ducted Systems at Johnson Controls.

Contractors can also use a dedicated distributor app to aid in installation. The YZT can be used with a complete Affinity system or upgrade an existing system. When connected as a system to Wi-Fi, the Affinity system automatically updates.

The heat pump’s automotive-grade powder coat finish is rated at 1,000 hours of salt spray, and the pump comes with lifetime compressor, one-year labor, and 10-year parts limited warranties on registered products.

Affinity units meet AHRI Standard 210/240 and 340/360, as well as relevant ASHRAE 90.1, ENERGY STAR, and EPAct2005 standards.
